New Voices Foundation will host the "Release the Pressure" Health Innovators Hub in the Wellness House at the 2024 ESSENCE Festival of Culture with the support of the American Medical Association to feature five innovative health brands focused on healthcare/health tech innovations aligned with “Release the Pressure” campaign goals/focus areas:
- Increasing awareness and education around self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) monitoring
- Increasing awareness of the connection between hypertension and maternal health
- Strengthening relationships between Black patients and their healthcare providers
- Empowering Black communities by providing access to resources and support needed to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle
The cornerstone of the project will be the provision of vending booths in Wellness House for five health entrepreneurs from Friday, July 5th to Sunday, July 7th at the 2024 ESSENCE Festival of Culture at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In addition to the opportunity to engage consumers on health innovation priorities, selected grantees will be invited to participate in Festival programming and networking opportunities to elevate the critical contributions they are making to advance health equity and innovation.
To facilitate participation in the “Release the Pressure” Health Innovators Hub in the Wellness House, New Voices Foundation will provide five grants of $7,000 each to cover Wellness House incidentals for booth activation and travel costs for five health companies.
Businesses must meet the following criteria to qualify for the program:
- In a HEALTH CARE or HEALTH-related field
- Have a HEALTH product and/or service that is aligned with “Release the Pressure” campaign goals/focus areas
- Business owner must be at least 25 years old
- Lawful U.S. resident- Incorporated business for at least one year
- Evidence of market validation and customer traction

Our mission is to join Black women in taking preventive action to protect their heart health. We’re encouraging Black women to participate in a healthy blood pressure movement.
